Nvidia's Huang says AI has 0% chance of ending humanity
In a CBS Sunday Morning interview, the Nvidia chief executive dismissed AI extinction fears and said the industry does not need new safety regulation, Nvidia and The Verge reported.
Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang said in a CBS Sunday Morning interview that there is a "0% chance" artificial intelligence ends humanity by 2030. Nvidia said as much in a post promoting the segment, and The Verge reported separately on the interview.
Nvidia said Huang's approach shows that moving fast and building safely are not in conflict. The company said it applies rigorous testing and safeguards throughout its work. PolymarketMoney reported separately that Huang said AI does not need new regulation.
PolymarketMoney said Huang warned against what he called a doomsday narrative around AI risk. The Verge, in a piece critical of Huang's framing, said he "seems to think he knows better than anyone else" than researchers who have studied AI for decades.
The Verge also noted that Huang stands to profit from AI continuing to scale at pace. Mark_k, an account that tracks AI industry news, relayed the "0% chance" figure and linked it to Huang's pushback against what it called a wider doomsday campaign.
