Adobe puts Photoshop, Lightroom and Firefly tools inside Google's Gemini
The company also folded Acrobat into its Claude plugin, which Adobe says now carries more than 80 of its tools.
Adobe said on Thursday that tools from Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly now run inside Google's Gemini, on every Gemini plan. Users turn the connection on under Personal Intelligence, choosing Adobe under connected apps and signing in with an Adobe account. A free account works, Adobe said.
Neal Pancholi, managing director of global partnerships for Gemini at Google, said in Adobe's announcement that anyone can now create and edit right in the chat. The claim is the two companies' own. Nobody outside them has published a test of how the tools behave inside Gemini.
Adobe added Acrobat to its Claude plugin for the first time. The plugin can now split or combine PDF pages. It can also redact sensitive information and convert files to other formats, Adobe said. Adobe puts the total at more than 80 tools across Acrobat, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Adobe Stock.
Two interactive editors come with it. One reorders PDF pages, edits text and adds comments. The other is a layer-based Express editor for changing single images and colours. Adobe said the plugin works on desktop, on the web and on mobile.
Guests can use the plugin without an account. Signing in with an Adobe account unlocks higher usage limits, more tools and continuity across sessions, Adobe said. The company has not published what those limits are. 9to5Mac reported the changes on Thursday, and Adobe trailed the Gemini connector in May.
