Anthropic staff gave $540m in 2025, five times the next corporate donor

The Information reports IPO documents show Anthropic employees donated $540 million in 2025, helped by a share top-up program. The next biggest Fortune 500 donors gave about $115 million.

Anthropic employees donated $540 million in 2025, nearly five times as much as the next-largest Fortune 500 donors, The Information reported, according to a summary by The Decoder on 5 October. The figures come from company documents shared with prospective IPO investors. Anthropic has not published them, and neither The Decoder nor this paper has seen the documents.

The report says staff gave a further $660 million between October 2025 and March 2026. For comparison, the Decoder says Truist Financial gave $115 million and BlackRock $109 million, the closest Fortune 500 totals it cites. The comparison is between employee donations and corporate giving, so the two groups are not strictly like for like.

The size comes from a company program. Employees donate shares to charities, and Anthropic tops up each gift with extra shares. According to the report, early employees get a triple match on the value of their donation, while the match rate for others varies with how long they have been at the company.

The Decoder says the top-ups dilute other shareholders, and that totals could reach billions after an IPO if the stock rises. It adds that CEO Dario Amodei and six co-founders have pledged to give away at least 80 percent of their wealth. Anthropic has not commented in the coverage read, and no second outlet has confirmed the numbers.
