TestingCatalog says OpenAI is building a $500 ChatGPT plan
The site says a tier called ChatGPT Pro Max turned up in development, days before OpenAI's DevDay in San Francisco. OpenAI has said nothing.
OpenAI is building a ChatGPT tier called Pro Max that would cost $500, TestingCatalog said on Thursday evening. The site, which reports what it finds in app strings and live tests, said the plan had been "spotted in development" and gave no date for it.
Nothing in this is confirmed by OpenAI, and TestingCatalog is the only source for it. The site tied the plan to long-running work, saying OpenAI "has been exploring ways to enable users to work with ChatGPT on long-running tasks for quite a while".
TestingCatalog called the price "one of the most expensive AI subscriptions available on the market". It did not say what usage the tier would carry. The account @kimmonismus repeated the $500 figure within minutes, without adding a source of its own, and said rates were not yet known.
The site expects OpenAI's DevDay next week to be the moment more is said. It reported separately on Wednesday that three developer plans, Free, Prototype and Accelerate, the last starting at $50, had appeared in discovered strings, and put DevDay on 29 September in San Francisco.
