TestingCatalog finds a 'coming soon' wallet inside ChatGPT's settings
A ChatGPT settings screen now reads "Your Wallet is on its way," TestingCatalog reports, weeks after World App became World Money, though nothing public links the two.
TestingCatalog reports that a "Coming soon" wallet entry appeared in ChatGPT's settings around 30 September, with the text: "A little wallet. A world of possibilities. Your Wallet is on its way." The outlet published the finding on 3 October. OpenAI has not announced a wallet, and no one else has reported on the entry so far, so it stays unconfirmed until the company ships it.
The outlet ties the timing to World App, which rebranded as World Money on 17 September. Sam Altman co-founded World and leads OpenAI, and TestingCatalog speculates the two launches could be coordinated. It also says plainly that nothing public suggests the ChatGPT Wallet and World Money share a balance, so the link is the outlet's theory, not a finding.
A more concrete context is OpenAI's Dots agents, which need a way to pay for things. TestingCatalog says OpenAI's head of app platform has indicated the company is thinking carefully about how to let agents pay. It adds that Instant Checkout, launched in September 2025, proved too inflexible, which is the outlet's assessment of why OpenAI may be looking for another route.
What the wallet would hold, who could use it and where it would launch are all unknown in the material reviewed. The finding rests on a settings string TestingCatalog saw in the app, a type of evidence that can change or vanish before release. Readers should treat the wallet as a possibility, not a product, until OpenAI says otherwise.
