Musk puts Colossus 2 at 110,000 GB200s and 440,000 GB300s
In a reply posted on X early on Friday, Musk gave chip counts for both xAI clusters and said another 220,000 GB300s go live next week.
Elon Musk said xAI's Colossus 2 cluster runs 110,000 Nvidia GB200 chips and 440,000 GB300s, in a reply posted on X at 03:44 UTC on Friday. He put the first Colossus cluster at 150,000 H100s, 50,000 H200s and 30,000 GB200s.
Musk said a further 220,000 GB300s "will be fully operational next week" and another 220,000 in November. He added that "if we get lucky", yet another 220,000 GB300s could be running by late December. The dates are his, and xAI has not published a schedule.
The counts are Musk's own and nobody has verified them. xAI does not publish an inventory of its clusters, and Nvidia does not break out shipments by customer. Taken at face value, the figures would put more than half a million Blackwell-generation parts in Colossus 2 alone.
The post had drawn about 977 likes and 86 reposts when read at 04:05 UTC on Friday. It was a reply to another account rather than a company statement, which is worth noting: Musk has given cluster numbers on X before, and they have not always matched what xAI later described.
