TestingCatalog reports Black Forest Labs' FLUX 3 Image is live in a playground

TestingCatalog says Black Forest Labs has announced FLUX 3 Image with 4K output and precise editing, with open weights planned for the coming weeks.

TestingCatalog, a site that reports on features found in apps and live tests, said late on Thursday that Black Forest Labs has announced FLUX 3 Image, a new image model for precise editing with support for 4K output. Users can already try the new features in the company's Tools Playground, it said, and open weights are planned within weeks.

This is a single-outlet report and the company's own page for the release was not available to us. TestingCatalog's post carries a video of the features. We could not confirm the 4K claim, the availability or the timing of open weights from Black Forest Labs, and the findings stay unconfirmed until the company confirms them.

The model was flagged earlier. Black Forest Labs' FLUX 3 announcement, dated 23 July, said FLUX 3 can synthesise and edit images in a wide range of styles, aspect ratios and resolutions. It said an early-access phase for FLUX 3 Image would open in the following weeks, and that open weights would come as FLUX 3 Dev over weeks and months.

That earlier post named no price or date for the image tier. If TestingCatalog is right, the playground release would be the first time the image model has been in public hands. The open-weights release matters most to the local-image community, which has built on earlier FLUX checkpoints, though no licence terms have been published.
