Ghost opens preorders for Core, a $3,499 screenless AI agent computer

Ghost says its $3,499 Core runs Qwen and Gemma models locally on an Nvidia Blackwell GPU, with no screen. Preorders opened Monday and shipping is promised for late October.

Ghost, a start-up founded by 19-year-old Zain Javaid, came out of stealth on 5 October with Core, a $3,499 computer designed for AI agents, TechCrunch reported. Preorders opened that day, and the company says units ship in the last week of October. It has raised an $11 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Abstract, Audacious Ventures, SV Angel and Nova also in.

Core has no screen. TechCrunch describes it as a "brain in a box" that users reach through a phone app or a voice mode. The hardware includes an Nvidia RTX Pro 4000 SFF Blackwell GPU, and the machine ships with Qwen-3.8-Next, Qwen-3.8-27B and Gemma-4-31B preinstalled, according to the report. Ghost has not published benchmark results for any of them on the device.

Javaid told TechCrunch the aim is that "models and personal memory run locally," adding: "The user owns all of it" and that everything is stored, run and processed on the device. Ghost also lists encrypted data, over-the-air updates and a firewall that guards the credentials agents use. None of those privacy claims has been independently audited.

Javaid also described Core watching health data and other context to warn users they may be falling ill, a feature that rests on his account alone. His co-founders are Nicholas Chua, 19, Yifei Chen, 24, and Gautam Sharda, 23. TechCrunch's account does not say how many units Ghost can build or how fast the machine runs the preinstalled models.
