Altworld releases 27B writing model, says it beats GPT‑6 Astra on messages
Hemmingway-1 is a fine-tune of Qwen3.8-27B aimed at everyday email and chat, and it is the ninth most trending model on Hugging Face.
A small outfit called Altworld has published Hemmingway-1, a 27-billion-parameter model built on Alibaba's Qwen3.8-27B and tuned for everyday writing such as messages and email. The model card says it "writes the best everyday messages of any model we tested", and claims it outperforms larger models including GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5.1 on communication tasks.
The weights carry a CC BY-NC 4.0 licence, which allows non-commercial use, with commercial terms available by agreement. The model page had 539 likes and 3,787 downloads on Wednesday, putting it ninth on Hugging Face's trending list. It was first published on 20 September and last updated on 22 September.
Most of the numbers on the card are Altworld's own. It reports 72% on what it calls difficult persuasive writing against 9% for GPT-6 Astra, and says the model finished "twenty-six points clear of the next model" on human-likeness. The card states plainly that CommunicationBench, Human-Likeness and StoryBench are the company's own benchmarks.
The one external figure Altworld cites is a third place on EQ-Bench 4, an independent emotional-intelligence benchmark it did not build. No other party appears to have run Hemmingway-1 against the models it names, so the comparative claims rest on Altworld's testing alone.
