Meta opens AI game‑making tools to phones and browsers

Horizon Create and Horizon Studio build playable 2D and 3D games from written prompts, with early access rolling out through an open waitlist.

Meta announced two tools on Thursday that build games from written descriptions: Horizon Create, a phone app, and Horizon Studio, a browser editor. Both run on what the company calls the Meta Horizon Engine, and games made in them publish to Facebook, Instagram and Horizon feeds.

Meta said the tools draw on the engine's agentic creation to produce progression systems, difficulty balance, art direction and multiplayer support, which creators then refine element by element. The claim is the company's own. No one outside Meta has published a test of what the tools actually produce.

"If you have a great idea for a game, you should be able to build it and get it in front of players without spending months navigating tools, hardware, and marketing," said Saxs Persson, Meta's vice-president of Horizon. Horizon Studio needs no installation and no gaming PC, according to the announcement.

Early access is rolling out gradually through an open waitlist, and the tools are in testing with Meta's creator community. Projects sync between the phone app and the browser editor. The Verge, which reported the launch, said Horizon Studio offers more granular controls than the phone app.
