macOS 27 adds AI photo editing, smarter Safari tabs

Apple released macOS 27, code-named Golden Gate, to the public this week after several months of beta testing, 9to5Mac reported. The update adds a set of Apple Intelligence features across Photos, Safari, Shortcuts and Finder on Apple Silicon Macs.
In Photos, a new Spatial Reframing tool lets users adjust an image's perspective after it is taken, and an Extend feature expands a photo beyond its original edges. Apple's Clean Up tool, which removes objects and people from photos, gained more capability in the update, according to 9to5Mac.
Safari now groups open tabs by topic automatically and can send a push notification when a tracked website changes, useful for watching prices or restocks. A new Describe an Extension option lets users build custom Safari extensions by typing a natural-language prompt instead of writing code.
Shortcuts gained the ability to build automations from natural-language descriptions, with iterative refinement, and Finder now suggests file and folder names based on their content, 9to5Mac reported. Apple has not published usage data for any of the new features.
