An open-source project called Mobile MCP lets AI coding agents automate iOS and Android apps, according to its GitHub repository. It works with Claude Code, Codex and Gemini on real devices, emulators and simulators. The tool, maintained by Mobile Next, has drawn 7,700 stars and 662 forks on GitHub.
Mobile MCP runs as a Model Context Protocol server. It gives agents tools to read an app's accessibility tree, tap, swipe and take screenshots, the repository says. The project favors that approach over vision models, which it says removes the need for platform-specific testing skills like XCUITest or Espresso.
The tool also connects to cloud-hosted devices through a paid service called Mobile Next Cloud. It works with any MCP-compatible client beyond the named agents, including Cursor, Windsurf and GitHub Copilot, the repository says. It is released under the Apache 2.0 license.
