Google Flow build points to Nano Banana 2.1, TestingCatalog says
The site found the Flow web build's internal references changed from "Nano Banana 2.5 Flash" to "Nano Banana 2.1," suggesting a naming shift ahead of an unannounced release.
TestingCatalog said Saturday that Google's Flow web build had swapped its internal reference for an unreleased image model. The name changed from "Nano Banana 2.5 Flash" to "Nano Banana 2.1," a shift the site read as pointing to the model's likely production name.
The move from "2" to "2.1" suggests a smaller update than the version jump implied by "2.5 Flash," TestingCatalog said. Google has not announced Nano Banana 2.1 or said what it changes over Nano Banana 2, which the company folded into Gemini as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image.
Google typically rolls a new Nano Banana model out across Gemini, AI Studio and Flow once it ships, TestingCatalog said, citing that earlier pattern. The site said it could not confirm whether the update touches generation quality, editing or speed.
No release date has surfaced. Google had not commented on the build reference or confirmed Nano Banana 2.1 exists, as of Saturday, according to TestingCatalog.
