Nvidia patent describes AI chatbot for game diagnostics

A newly published Nvidia patent describes a chatbot for diagnosing game performance problems from plain-English requests. The company has not confirmed it will ship.

A patent Nvidia filed describes an AI chatbot for game developers. It would take a plain-English description of a performance problem and return an automated diagnostic. Patentlyze, a patent-tracking site, first spotted the filing. Tom's Hardware reported on it Saturday.

The patent gives example questions a developer might ask, such as why a scene stutters during camera cuts or why frame times spike when ray-traced reflections enter view. The chatbot would then write a diagnostic and run it on the GPU automatically. It would hand the results back for the developer to interpret.

Nvidia has not said whether the tool will ship. Patent filings often describe work a company never releases. Tom's Hardware said the concept resembles G-Assist, an existing chatbot tool Nvidia already offers gamers for GeForce RTX support. The outlet also pointed to Nvidia's broader push to put AI features into DLSS and other rendering tools.

The patent does not say whether the diagnostic code the chatbot generates would be validated before a developer acts on it. Tom's Hardware flagged that gap as a reason for caution. No other outlet has reported on the filing so far.
