Nvidia's RTX PRO 6000 price nearly doubles to $16,000
The workstation card, aimed at AI developers rather than gamers, now costs about eight times the RTX 5090's launch price, and Engadget says Nvidia has not said why.
Nvidia's RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition now costs $16,000 in the US, nearly double its $8,565 launch price, Engadget reported. The company has not said why, and the increase lands on its most expensive desktop GPU.
The jump comes amid rising memory costs and broader GPU price increases across Nvidia's lineup, according to Engadget. The RTX 5090, Nvidia's top gaming card, launched at $1,999, making the workstation part about eight times the price.
The card carries 96GB of GDDR7 ECC memory, compared with 32GB on the RTX 5090, plus 24,064 CUDA cores and a 600-watt power ceiling, Engadget said. Nvidia markets the extra memory at AI developers running large models and professionals doing 3D work, not gamers.
Independent testing by YouTuber der8auer found the RTX PRO 6000 beat the RTX 5090 by single digits up to about 14% in select games on Nvidia's workstation driver, Engadget reported. Those gains, it said, are nowhere near enough to justify the price for gamers.
