Perplexity adds Profiles and Skills to its Agent API
Perplexity's Agent API can now save a model, tools, connectors and settings as one versioned Profile that every developer on a project can call, chief executive Aravind Srinivas said.
Perplexity is adding Profiles, Skills and managed connectors to its Agent API, chief executive Aravind Srinivas said in a post on X. A Profile bundles a model, instructions, tools, connectors and run settings under one versioned ID. A project admin can set it up once, and every developer on the project then calls it with the project's API key.
The change is meant to stop teams from pasting the same configuration into every application. Otherwise they must edit it in five separate places whenever the setup changes, Srinivas said. Skills are versioned on their own, so Perplexity can ship a new version of a procedure without touching every integration that already calls it.
Managed connectors cover GitHub, Slack, Google Drive, Datadog, Linear and Notion at launch, Srinivas said. An admin configures each one once, so individual applications no longer need to hold their own credentials for those services. Profiles and Skills are live now. Connectors remain in preview, and Srinivas did not say when that would change.
No other developer has publicly tested the new Profiles or connectors. Perplexity has not said how pricing might change once connectors leave preview. Srinivas did not specify how many customers currently use the Agent API, and the company has not published documentation beyond the announcement post.
