Munich robotics start‑up RobCo reaches $1bn valuation and plans a March launch for Alfie
RobCo says an employee share sale has taken its valuation past $1 billion, double its level nine months ago. Its autonomous industrial robot Alfie is due to launch on 4 March 2027.
Munich-based RobCo has passed a $1 billion valuation through a funding round that mixed new capital with employee share sales, Tech Funding News reported on 5 October. The outlet says that is double the company's valuation nine months ago, when RobCo closed a $100 million Series C in January 2026. It is the first report of the figure seen in the sources checked here.
Existing backers Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred, Lingotto and Promus Ventures took part, the report says, alongside new investors Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective. Co-founder Roman Hölzl is quoted as calling it "an important moment for RobCo" and saying the company used it to strengthen its balance sheet while letting long-standing staff realise value.
The product to watch is Alfie, which the report describes as an autonomous industrial robot built for high-mix, unstructured work. RobCo plans its commercial launch at RobCoN, its first summit, on 4 March 2027. No specifications, prices or customer names for Alfie appeared in the account, so what it can do remains the company's claim.
Tech Funding News says RobCo operates in more than a dozen US states, with manufacturing in Austin, Texas and a lab in San Francisco, and that Hölzl has moved to the US to lead the expansion. Hacker News users sent the article to its front page with 46 points when it was read. The report did not give the size of the round.
