Open‑source kit lets Claude Code mod single‑player PC games

The universal-modder repo has 2,800 stars and 244 forks four days after launch. Its author says an agent can use it to reverse-engineer a game and add art, 3D models and audio.

A GitHub project called universal-modder, published on 30 September by developer rehan-remade, had 2,810 stars and 244 forks when this paper checked on Sunday. The repository describes itself as skills and tools that let Claude Code mod almost any PC game the user owns.

According to the README, the workflow runs from reconnaissance and reverse engineering to generating art, 3D models and audio through the fal MCP server, then in-game testing and recording showcase videos. A command-line tool called um has more than 40 commands for scanning games, generating assets and recording gameplay. The project is MIT licensed.

The README lists three example mods. A Terraria add-on has a tactical nuke, a chain-lightning rifle and a two-phase Drone Mothership boss. An Age of Empires II civilisation, San Franciscans, gets a Robotaxi unit and a Transamerica Pyramid wonder. A third puts Minecraft inside GTA V story mode. This paper has not run any of them.

The README says the kit also works with Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and GitHub Copilot. It sets limits: the project says it refuses to inject into online games with anti-cheat, write cheats against other players or bypass DRM and ownership checks, and it needs single-player games or self-hosted servers. How well it works beyond the author's own examples has not been independently reported.
