Tech chiefs sign voluntary White House Accord on Super Intelligence
Trump called the voluntary pact "morally binding" after Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta and others signed. It has no enforcement mechanism, and he signed an order renaming AI "super intelligence".
Nearly 20 technology leaders signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence on Tuesday, according to NBC News. Speaker Mike Johnson said everyone at the meeting signed. He described voluntary commitments, strong internal control, and layers of internal and external review.
Asked whether the accord binds anyone, President Trump said: "I think it's morally binding, yeah." NBC News reports he posted the document on Truth Social but offered no enforcement mechanism. He said companies face "tremendous self-regulation" and that "we automatically have regulation with the Department of Justice."
Meta's Mark Zuckerberg described the text as principles for building internal controls and detecting problems, backed by multiple layers of auditing. Those start with internal risk review, then external auditors and evaluators. NBC News carried his account. The paper has not seen the signed document.

The White House also published an executive order requiring federal agencies to say "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "AI", according to its fact sheet. Trump answered a reporter's question about accountability with "It's not AI. It's SI." Vice President Vance attended, as did leaders of OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, AMD and Palantir.

Trump had rejected new federal AI rules after an earlier lunch with the same group. NBC News describes the accord as industry self-oversight. Who will conduct the external audits, and to whom results are reported, were not stated in the accounts reviewed.
