Google prices first Googlebooks from $899, ties Gemini to the desktop

Google set prices and hardware specifications for its first Googlebooks, TechCrunch reported on Monday, putting the entry price at $899 for a laptop built around Gemini. Bloomberg described the move as a push into the high-end laptop market.
TechCrunch said the Googlebook ties Gemini to the cursor, to dictation, to widgets and to other parts of the desktop. MarioNawfal, summarising the announcement, said the machines run Android, come from partner manufacturers and launch in 5 flagship models.
The accounts describe a link between the laptop and an Android phone. Signing in brings a phone's settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi and messages onto the laptop, MarioNawfal said, and Android 17's "Continue On" moves a task from the phone to the laptop. Google has not published those details in the posts the paper holds.
