Meta partners with PayPal to let Muse check out at merchants

Meta is partnering with PayPal to let people shop and check out through its Muse agent across PayPal merchants worldwide, Alexandr Wang said on Tuesday. Wang is Meta's chief AI officer and announced the deal in a post on X. Neither company set a start date.
The claim about scope is Meta's own, and PayPal has published no terms of its own. Three market accounts relayed the post within the hour. "We will not rest until your muse can ship till he drops," Wang wrote, in the company's own phrasing for the agent.
The deal is the second checkout arrangement for Muse in as many days. Shopify opened Shop Pay checkout to the agent earlier this week. Amazon took the opposite course and blocked Muse from its store on Sunday night, telling users that access by an unauthorised AI agent breaches its conditions of use.
Neither Meta nor PayPal has said how a payment is authorised, or who bears the cost when an agent buys the wrong thing. TechCrunch has suggested liability may be part of why Amazon closed its store to the agent. PayPal did not post about the deal in the window covered here.
