Snorkel AI raises $350 million at $3.5 billion valuation

Chief executive Alex Ratner told Reuters that demand from frontier labs for complex training data and simulated environments is driving the company's growth.

Snorkel AI has raised $350 million at a valuation of $3.5 billion, its chief executive Alex Ratner told Reuters. The company sells training data and simulated environments to the labs building frontier models, and Ratner put the round down to rising demand from them.

The account rests on Reuters, which had the figures from Ratner rather than from a filing or from an investor. Reuters did not name the lead investor or the other participants in the round, and it identified no customer of Snorkel AI.

Both the amount and the valuation are therefore the company's own numbers, relayed by a wire service. What the round buys, whether it carries any secondary component, and how the $3.5 billion compares with the company's last valuation do not appear in the report.

Snorkel AI's description of its own market is likewise Ratner's. He said frontier labs need increasingly complex training data and simulated environments. Reuters gave no independent figures for the company's revenue, its growth rate or the number of labs buying from it.
