Spotify launches Taste Profile in US, lets Premium users steer recommendations
TechCrunch reported the beta feature shows listeners how Spotify reads their taste and lets them change it in plain language, for subscribers aged 18 and over.
Spotify began rolling out Taste Profile to Premium subscribers in the United States on Wednesday, a beta feature that shows listeners how the service reads their taste and lets them change it in plain language, TechCrunch reported.
That report is the only account of the US launch so far. No statement from Spotify appears in it, and the company gave no timeline for reaching a wider audience, according to TechCrunch. The feature had run in beta in New Zealand before this.
The profile covers podcasts and audiobooks as well as music. TechCrunch said listeners can ask for more variety, raise or lower particular genres and artists, and keep things like sleep sounds or children's music from shaping what Spotify serves them.
Spotify's co-chief executive Gustav Soderstrom showed the feature at SXSW in March, according to TechCrunch. It remains a beta in the United States, where only Premium subscribers aged 18 and over can use it for now.
