Taiwan export orders reach $102.96 billion in August, ministry says

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs said August export orders came to $102.96 billion, 71.4 percent above the same month a year earlier. The figure is the first monthly total above $100 billion, and passes the previous record of $97.94 billion set in July.

Taiwan's Central News Agency reported the ministry's numbers and attributed the rise to demand for AI servers and to work by large US cloud providers on their own application-specific chips. The Commercial Times carried the same figures, according to the account SemiconductorsX, which posted them on Wednesday.

Electronics orders came to $45.75 billion, up 83.9 percent, and information and communication products to $34.21 billion, up 100.5 percent, the agency reported. The two categories together account for about 78 percent of the month's orders. The ministry did not break either total down by customer.

The ministry forecast September orders of $106.0 billion to $109.1 billion, a range it put at 50.7 to 55.1 percent above a year earlier, and said the full year could reach $1.1 trillion against $743.73 billion in 2025. Export orders record demand booked rather than goods shipped, and may not convert in the same month.
