Vals AI puts Xiaomi's MiMo v2.6 Pro and Flash top of open‑weight index
The evaluator priced the two models at $0.39 and $0.20 per task, against $6.47 for Kimi K3, and said both sit on its cost frontier.
Vals AI said Xiaomi's MiMo V2.6 Pro and Flash are the new first and second open-weight models on the Vals Index. The evaluator posted the results early on Wednesday, a day after Xiaomi released the two models. It put the gain over their predecessor, MiMo v2.5, at 19 to 20 points on the index score.
The figures are the evaluator's own, from runs it conducted, and the paper has not reproduced them. Vals AI said Flash costs $0.20 per task and Pro $0.39, and that both score higher than Kimi K3 at $6.47 and GLM 5.3 at $6.73. That puts the cost gap at 17 to 34 times, according to its posts.
Vals AI put the two models within 0.04 points of each other overall, at 59.73 and 59.69. The order in which it gave those figures would place Flash above Pro, which does not sit easily with ranking Pro first. The evaluator did not say which score belongs to which model.
Pro is better at finance, Vibe Code Bench, Code Migration and Legal Research, Vals AI said, and Flash better at Terminal-Bench and EMB. It called Flash the better terminal-agent model at half the price. Both score under 45 on Code Migration, where the evaluator put the frontier at 55 to 68.
The models were run on Xiaomi's default provider settings, at temperature 1 and top-p 0.95, Vals AI said. It gave the context window as 1 million tokens and maximum output as 128,000. Neither Xiaomi nor Vals AI has published the task mix behind the index, so the ordering may not hold on a particular workload.
